Sano On Live in the D! Our Senior Health Advisors Talk Medicare Annual Enrollment (AEP) & Your ANOC Letter

Our Senior Health Advisors, Marlayna West, Kim West, and Kevin Cox, sat with Live in the D on Channel 4 to talk about the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) and a letter that’s easy to overlook but really shouldn’t be: your Annual Notice of Change (ANOC).
We Know This Time of Year Can Feel Like a Lot
If Medicare paperwork makes your eyes glaze over, please know you’re not alone-almost everyone we talk to feels that way at first. That’s really why we do what we do. You shouldn’t have to become a Medicare expert just to make sure you’re taken care of. That’s our job, and we take it seriously because it’s your health and your peace of mind on the line.
What’s Going This Fall?
From October 15th to December 7th, Medicare gives you a window to make changes to your coverage, switch plans, adjust your prescription drug coverage, or leave things as they are if you’re happy. Whatever you decide takes effect January 1st. If the window passes, you’re usually waiting until next year, so it really is worth a few minutes of your time now.
Right before that window opens, your plan sends you an Annual Notice of Change (ANOC), a letter explaining what’s changing about your coverage next year: your premium, your copays, which doctors are still in-network, which prescriptions are still covered. It often looks like just another piece of mail, and it’s easy to set aside. We don’t want you to miss it, because what’s inside can really affect you.
What We Told Everyone Watching
- Open that ANOC letter as soon as it comes.
- Take a few minutes to check it against your current doctors and medications. This is where surprises tend to hide.
- If anything feels confusing, please reach out to us. That’s what we’re here for, and does not cost you anything.
